01 TENSION

In Italy, more than 200,000 people suffer from aphasia: a very complex neurological disorder that affects the ability to understand and formulate verbal or written language. Aphasia is triggered by injury to the Broca and Wernicke areas of the brain — the parts responsible for the production, comprehension and expression of speech. The most common causes are traumatic, hemorrhagic or ischemic: up to 30% of people who have suffered a stroke develop a form of aphasia. With this condition, people are very limited in communication, making everyday simple task very complicated.

02 STRATEGY

Create a tool that can simplify language so much that people affected by impaired communication can connect again with other people, both in person or remotely.

03 IDEA

Wemogee: The first emoji-based chat app, enabling people suffering from aphasia to communicate again with their beloved.

Aphasic users rely on simplified images as a way to avoid decoding text. Wemogee works as a bi-directional translator between emojis and text, creating seamless communication flow that was previously impossible.
